Building screens for windows

What if I told you that you could make your own DIY window screen in just one day? Would you believe me? This is a relatively similar process to my post about how to build DIY Storm Windows if you are looking to gain some energy efficiency out of your old windows.

Check out the list of tools and supplies I used below as well as the video for the step-by-step break down of the process. You can also buy the full woodworking plans with a convenient measuring guide to really help you complete the project with ease in my store. Screens were meant to fit on the outside of a double-hung window and rest up against the blind stop.

If you make the screens too tight, then with the irregularities and paint build up on old windows, you will be doing a lot of planing and sanding to make it fit. There is a reason for the slight discrepancy and it has to do with the blade width on the table saw.

For now, just trust that the rule is correct. Here is the cut list you need:. Assemble the screen frame and clamp everything together so that it is square. In the video, I use a Kreg K4 pocket hole jig and screws to attach the joints because it is one of the most DIY friendly ways to assemble a frame like this. Pick the screen type you want and roll it out across the frame. Start in a corner and begin pulling and stapling the screening tight. Miter the corners for an attractive finish. Whether you have metal, wood or vinyl windows, the Build-a-Screen system makes a window screening a breeze.

In addition to your Build-A-Screen kit, be sure to get all the tools and supplies to create the perfect window screen. Tools Needed:. STEP 1 Measure:. STEP 2. STEP 3. Cutting: Cut marked pieces with hacksaw. STEP 4. Assembly: Install hardware see options below and insert corners into frames vertical pieces first, then attach each vertical piece to the horizontals.

STEP 5. Spline will hold in hardware. Trim excess screen with Utility knife or blade from Rollerknife. Wood Windows: Attach Screen frame fasteners to outside frame of window.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, as an important step towards ease of doing business in the province, has launched a one window business portal with the aim to promote industrial and commercial activities by extending facilities to private sector investors.

An official handout said that the one window portal would serve as a one-stop shop for investors and the business community to obtain registrations, licenses, certifications and permits of various departments required for investment and starting a business in the province. The portal has been jointly developed by KP-BoIT and KP-ITB, which would connect businesses with the relevant provincial and federal stakeholders digitally for effective and efficient services at doorsteps.

The portal is a one-click shop and connects businesses with eleven different departments making the system formidable, efficient and effective. Besides facilitating the business community in obtaining no-objection certificates NOCs , licenses from various departments, the portal also provides an online facility for payments of various taxes, registration fees and approval of building maps.

By using the business portal, investors and the business community will get rid of the time-consuming and cumbersome processes of obtaining NOCs for starting various businesses, and they will not be required to roam around various offices.
