There is a way to revert XP to Win2k-like behavior: 1. Group Policy Editor starts. Now XP will boot-up Win2k-style: first all the system stuff, then the user logon.

Since in all the long post you forgot to tell us what kind of computer you have, here are general instructions. If you don't have one, you will need to use a retail copy of Windows and the Product Key that came with it. Naturally that copy of Windows XP cannot be installed on any other computer.
