Windows xp freezes upon startup

Yes I'm in safe mode now and it doesn't freeze. It's not exactly random, because it freezes after a certain amount of time after the computer boots. Like, I only have a few minutes to do anything after its starts. If I leave it alone on the login screen it will freeze after a few minutes, if I login and start doing something like the internet or anything it will freeze shortly after, etc. I can't think of any changes that may have caused this, like I said it just started doing this one morning, and system restore says there have been no changes to the system.

Place your hand at the back of the computer by the power supply and see if you can feel any air flow. Sounds heat related or possible bad RAM. I feel warm air coming out of the back.. I think it might be something power related, though, because I've had problems with that before. It means the power supply fan is working. Doesn't guarantee the power supply is work properly.

Like what you're having now? What solved it before? You don't have to poke around in there With the computer off, open the side, push the start button and see if the CPU fan spins. Nothing more. In reply to ClickStartComp's post on June 25, Hi, It always freezes on this screen. I have checked the event log and have found errors there are 8 errors in a row the first starting with "DCOM got error this service cannot be started in Safe Mode ' attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments'"' in order to run the server.

I have not installed anything new to my computer to cause these errors. In reply to mposello's post on June 26, Sep 30, Pete Williams. Keyboard and touch screen not working after Windows Update. Darrenbilly Sep 24, Windows. Replies 5 Views 3K. Oct 4, bazz Latest posts.
